Only two or three teams have entered the Miss Piggie Contest the last couple of years, so this year MIM is trying something different. No-longer men dressing up and dancing like female pigs.
Do we have any singers/entertainers on our team?? Sing a song that incorporates Chile and BBQ. This could be easy money $2500! Last year only two teams competed. Somebody should step up!

Well, I can see by the response on the forum how excited everyone is about Piggie Idol. To bad boys and girls I comitted us to put together something. I am invisioning Jake and Elwood Ques doing a song and dance number. Something involving BBQ, Chile and the Blues! Who is in?

MS. PIGGIE IDOL Thursday, May 14
The Ms. Piggie Idol competition gives the finest swine on your team an opportunity to show his/her vocal talent to the world.
The contest will be limited to the first 25 teams that register. The contest acceptance letter sent to the team by Memphis In May will provide a form for additional category entries. The deadline for subsequent entries is April 4, 2009.
All contestants will perform and be judged on Stage, Thursday, May 14, at 6:00 p.m. The top three finalists will present an encore performance on Stage at 8:00 P.M., Thursday, after which the winners will be determined and the trophies will be presented.
1. Rules And Judging
There will be preliminary judging of the Ms. Piggie Idol contestants. Three finalists will be selected from the preliminary round. The finalists will perform encore presentation and from those finalists the winners will be announced.
Each entry may have one Ms. Piggie Idol who will perform a live lead vocal selection for the judges. The entrant must provide their own recorded music without any pre-recorded lead vocals. These songs can be karaoke style recordings. Each team will prepare their own lyrics. A copy of the lyrics must be presented to judges prior to the performance.
The entire performance cannot exceed 5 minutes.
The recording must be provided on CD and must be turned in to the judge chairperson by 5:00pm on Thursday, May 14. The recording will be checked to insure that lead vocals are not pre-recorded.
Each team will be allowed two minutes for setup. Be ready!
Ms. Piggie may have up to five team members as background vocalists, dancers, etc. A microphone will be set for the Ms. Piggie Idol contestant and two additional microphones will be set for the background vocalists.
Costumes for the contestant and background vocalists will be considered in the overall impression scoring, but they are not required. Backdrops or other set theatrical props will not be allowed. Contestants may carry hand held props, signs, banners, flags, etc.
Ms. Piggie Idol entrants must be at least 18 years of age, and may not be a professional musician, nor have any professionally produced and marketed recording bearing their voice.
Profanity and vulgar displays are prohibited.
No flammable, powdery or liquid substances will be allowed on stage, including explosive or smoke devices. No items may be thrown from the stage into the crowd during the performance.
Violation of any of the above rules will result in immediate disqualification from the Ms. Piggie Idol contest.
The judges will select the Ms. Piggie Idol according to the following criteria:
a. Vocal skill – Tone, pitch, articulation.
b. Creativity of Lyrics - Use of Honored Country Theme, Barbecue, Memphis and or Memphis in May – how Chile and BBQ is incorporated
c. Reaction of the Crowd – Positive response…or are they throwing rib bones??
d. Overall Impression - all of the above, plus costumes, pageantry, dancers, etc.
2. Awards
Awards will be presented to the winners on Thursday, May 14.
