The Silly Goose

The Silly Goose is the newest locals’ bar in the Downtown Memphis core.  They opened in January 2009 in the old Swig location on Peabody Place between Main and Second Streets and immediately attracted a following.  The Goose is known for its immense selection of liquors (one of our team members got bored and counted – he reported 252 bottles on the shelves).  They also have 10 beers on tap, including a selection of craft beers and Downtown favorite PBR, and 30 more premium beers in bottles.  They have happy hour from 3 to 8 PM Sunday through Thursday.

Locals summarize the Silly Goose in one word:  comfortable.  You can have a good conversation at the bar, watch the game on 3 HDTVs plus a projection screen, surf the Internet via free Wi-Fi or on one of the Goose’s 2 public computers, or read a book from the Goose’s library.  Comfy couches, chairs, and tables and friendly servers invite you to sit down and stay a while.  The Silly Goose is open 11:30 AM to 3 AM Monday-Saturday and noon to 3 AM Sunday.

Circa

There is possibly no better place Downtown to take a date for dinner than Circa by John Bragg, a Regional Tennessee/Contemporary American restaurant accented by the chef’s classic French techniques and sauces.  One of the first thing you’ll notice when you walk into Circa is the Wall of Wine, featuring an extensive list of wines selected to accent Bragg’s cuisine.  The restaurant offers two dining rooms for private events, and can do off-site catering as well.

Chef John Bragg was voted Best Chef in this year’s Memphis Flyer “Best Of Memphis” poll, and Circa tied for Best Restaurant.  Chef John Bragg’s reputation in Memphis includes not only Circa, but such stellar past restaurants as La Montagne.  Despite his culinary success, John is a down-to-earth guy who can sit down to a plate of BBQ and a beer with his neighbors.  John is a great chef and a great sponsor, but first and foremost, he is our friend.  We are proud beyond words to have John and Circa associated with the Ques Brothers.
